Automated Visual Inspection (AVI) is a procedure for collecting and identifying all the features and/or defects of the object. Practically, the defect classification is highly product and market specific. A set of specific measurement techniques are required to capture and quantify the previously identified object features in an accurate, repeatable, robust way. Also, proper pass/fail parameters or criteria have to be determined. Recently, AVI system is more and more popular and is used to supplement or replace human visual-inspection methods in R&D setting as well as in production quality control or quality assurance (QC/QA) environments. A?brief overview of AVI system for industrial products’ quality control is to be given. Some practical application cases will also be shared.
