On December 23 and 24, 2009, at 7:00 p.m., in Qi Yuan Hall of the Ren Yan Building, seniors in the Department of Foreign Languages & Literature performed their graduation project—a play entitled “The Odd Couple”, to packed audiences.
Yi-Fen Yang served as the advisor for this production, which was a female version of the hit Broadway play by Neil Simon. It is set in the 1980s and humorously portrays the relationships among six middle-aged women friends who often cannot stand one another, yet remain tightly bonded to one another. A female version was chosen over the original male version to provide the audience with a different feeling for this story, as it unfolds in thoughtful and often very funny dialogue among the characters.
This performance received rave reviews. The audiences laughed out loud at the humorous banter, and at the same time were encouraged to appreciate differences in their friends and coworkers.
Many thanks are owed to the campus units, alumni and businesses that supported and sponsored this performance.
